About Raj Venugopal

I am the General Manager of International Affairs and Global Business at Canada Post Corporation, and Canada's Head of Delegation to the Universal Postal Union (a specialized agency of the United Nations). I previously served as Director of Regulatory Affairs, before which I worked in government and Canada's national Parliament. Additionally I am an award-winning university professor having taught for a decade in: public policy, public administration, international relations and foreign policy, and government. I hold a PhD in Political Science from Carleton University, MSc in International Politics from the University of London (Commonwealth Scholar to the UK), and BA in Political Science from the University of New Brunswick. I have executive training from Harvard University, and speak four languages. I have travelled extensively for business development and foreign direct investment attraction, academic and industry conferences, and in a personal capacity. I am married and have three children. I am a competitive athlete in the sport of Judo, and am Chief Instructor of the RA Centre Judo Club (est. 1955) and a national and international champion. I use my leadership roles at work and in Judo to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and moral character development. I believe in global multilateralism, our shared humanity, and fighting against bigotry and hate in all of its forms, whether obvious or banal. I will talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime, about anything because I believe, deeply, that sincere dialogue and a bit of grace can save us.
