About Rajendra Puthankar

A Techno-Commercial Speciality-Chemicals Business Leader with an entrepreneurial bent of mind, I have developed, commercialized, launched and profitably scaled up products in India & Africa. During my 9-year stint at Pidilite, I developed over 70 products that were very successfully launched. As Business Head & CEO at Purechem Manufacturing (Nigeria), I set up the Construction Chemicals division from scratch, developed 500 Key Accounts in Nigeria and other West African Countries. We attained a market leadership for the products in highly competitive markets and within 7 years delivered revenues of $ 35 Mn and profits of USD 14 Mn. An MSc (Chemistry) graduate, I have undergone senior management programs at the IIMs at Ahmedabad & Indore. I have attended a number of seminars and training programs across the world to hone my technical knowledge and skills in construction chemicals. I am experienced in a wide spectrum of chemicals businesses - Adhesives, Sealants, Emulsions & Industrial Chemicals (Pidilite), Construction Chemicals, Hotmelts, Casein-based Glues & white Glue (Fosroc – Purechem), Insulating Enamels (Monopol), Resins & Adhesives (Satyen Polymers) and Paints (Everchem). As P&L Head, I have managed diverse functions including Business Operations, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Design, Production, Quality Control, Technical Services and Logistics. My strength lies in resolving gaps in organizational performances and positively impacting business goals. I have set up greenfield ventures in sunrise industries of infrastructure-related chemicals; travelled globally and spearheaded international tie-ups from inception to implementation; established productive business relationships; created distribution networks; attained multi-fold growth in revenues; consistently exceeded expectations. At Krishna Adhesives, I developed the Adhesives range for Automobile, Footwear, Leather, Furniture verticals for Institutional and Retail divisions and signed up key clients like Godrej, M&M, Hyundai, Maruti & Whirlpool. Outside of work, I analyze and passionate about financial performances of companies and organize social events. I was the University Champion in Chess and Table tennis My world revolves around developing & marketing state-of-the-art speciality chemicals products. I can quickly spot business opportunities and leverage my technical prowess to build organizations.
