About Rajkumar Sarma
With over 12 years of expertise in digital and analog circuit design, low-power VLSI design, FPGA prototyping, and PCB design, Dr. Rajkumar Sarma has made significant contributions to academia and research. Over the past two years, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Limerick, Rajkumar has been a key contributor to the Automatic Design of Digital Circuits (ADDC) Project. Collaborating with industry leaders such as Intel, S3, and Emdalo, this initiative achieved groundbreaking milestones, including the development of the world’s first entirely machine-learning-generated Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). A notable achievement of this collaboration includes prototyping one of these ML-generated designs on an FPGA board and fabricating it using TSMC's 65 nm technology, followed by in-house functional testing and verification. Currently, as a Research Fellow at the University of Limerick, Dr. Sarma leads the AutoCircuit project, an extended version of the recently concluded ADDC initiative. Dr. Sarma's professional journey includes roles such as Freelance Educator at Unacademy, Program Head and Assistant Professor at Jain (Deemed-to-be-University), and Associate Professor at Lovely Professional University. In these capacities, Rajkumar has supervised numerous M.Tech theses, published extensively in high-impact journals, and secured multiple patents, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and knowledge dissemination. Technically proficient, Dr. Sarma excels in languages such as Verilog HDL, VHDL, and Embedded C, and is skilled in tools like Cadence, AMD Xilinx, and KiCad. His expertise spans RTL Design, FPGA Prototyping, Analog/Mixed-Signal Design, Static Timing Analysis (STA), and Place-and-Route (PnR).
