About Raluca Vartic

I am leading a global community of software professionals dedicated to creating products that meaningfully impact the future of healthcare. My journey in software started when I was a teenager, in a Romanian city, at the time of the floating parallelograms of Windows 95. Algorithms appealed to my stubbornness to solve problems. After hours or days of coding, having a working program (written in Pascal or C++) was incredibly rewarding. Having a program that worked was what I cared about most in those early days. Yes, I am a little nerdy. I love being surrounded by people passionate about technology. It certainly makes it easy to stay up to date with the latest trends in our industry. Throughout my career, I have been lucky to have had the opportunity to wear many different hats: software developer, team lead, scrum master, project manager, test automation advocate, and now manager. I also worked with masters in other crafts, like usability, design, and quality. These experiences taught me to seek different perspectives. I know there is more than one right way of doing things. The most amazing things happen when ideas flow freely, when teams get comfortable with dissent and when we are open to changing our point of view. My work today requires a lot of listening, asking questions, challenging assumptions and identifying the problems to solve. It also involves developing, supporting and coaching people. I collaborate with other departments to deliver projects, provide a great customer experience and implement my organization’s strategic goals. Working for a consultancy means embracing uncertainty, complexity and change. I was involved in tens of projects, constantly having to adapt and learn something new. This dynamic environment made me appreciate learning more than expertise. When approached with curiosity and an openness to adapt, complexity and volatility are more fun than intimidating.
