About Ramadas Narayanan

I have expertise in low-carbon air-conditioning, particularly in solar thermal cooling incorporating the desiccant evaporative cooling system. I have carried out several theoretical and experimental investigations on the dehumidification process, developed innovative desiccant drying systems and invented the non-adiabatic desiccant wheel which has high effectiveness in moisture removal. I have over 20 years of experience in the energy field and successfully carried out several joint projects with internal and external partners including international collaborators. I have received several awards which include an award from Australian Institute of refrigeration, air conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) for outstanding scholarship in the industry. Currently, I am working on novel cooling technologies such as desiccant cooling incorporating non-adiabatic desiccant wheel and dewpoint evaporative cooling which is superior to the current finalist projects of the global cooling prize (https://globalcoolingprize.org/). At present, I am a committee member of special technical group for Renewable Energy Heating and Cooling of AIRAH. I am also the Chair of Engineers Australia’s Bundaberg Regional Committee for the year 2019. I am a member of the editorial board and reviewer of a few international journals such as Energies, Applied Thermal Engineering etc.
