Welcome & salaam- peace & blessings I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology from Aligarh Muslim University, where my initial research interest revolved around exploring "gender, body, and clothing in Islam within the cultural context of Kashmir Valley." This topic, close to my heart, had secured me the top position on the selection list. However, upon my supervisor’s expertise & guidance, I redirected my research focus to the study of Tablighi Jamaat, an area I embraced with dedication and determination, knowing it was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to miss, especially after I had been dropped in the interview thrice at Central University of Hyderabad, JMI and JNU- partly due to my vocal stance on Islam's respectable position for women and the absence of prior connections with faculty or guides. This experience deepened my understanding of Islamic movements and broadened my perspective on sociological inquiry.My research interests encompass sociological theories, research methodology, rural-urban dynamics, Indian society, sociology of mass-media, social stratification, sociology of Islam, hijab studies, social change, population studies, gender studies & in nut shell everything concerning sociology or society. I have published extensively in national and international journals, authored the book Tablighi Jamaat: Ideology & Organisational Structure, and presenting research papers at numerous academic forums.I am honored to contribute as a peer reviewer for respected journals like Sage's Critical Research on Religion and Al Jadwa: Jurnal Studi Islam published by Universitas Islam Internasional Darullugha Wadda’wah, Indonesia. I am also affiliated with organizations such as the Scholars Academic and Scientific Society and the All India Sociological Society.Outside my academic pursuits, I enjoy cycling, running, traveling, and martial arts. Currently, I teach sociology on a part-time basis in the Higher Education Department in Kashmir, India. I look forward to working in any environment that would realize my potential to make this world an abode of peace based on rationality, research, debates & discussions, tolerance & diversity, and truth & justice.
