About Ramesh Chugh

I am working as Senior Consultant at HPCL Mittal Energy Limited, Noida since July 2024. Prior to this I worked for more than 10 years as Vice President (Technical) at HPCL-Mittal Enery Ltd, Bathinda. In this capacity, I was responsible for Process Engineering, Monitoring, Optimization & day to day trouble shooting of Process Units. I was responsible for implementation & maintenance of Advanced Process Controls, Energy Conservation and GRM Improvement Projects. In addition to being overall in-charge of Product Quality Control, I was responsible for Environmental Monitoring and compliance to laid-down norms. I have over 43 years of wide industry experience in the areas of Process Engineering, Production Planning, Energy Conservation, Advanced Process Control, Quality Control, and HSE & Unit Operations. Before joining HMEL, I was working as General Manager (TS) at Barauni Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, a Fortune 500, Maharatna Company of the Govt. of India. I have the unique distinction of having worked at 5 major refineries of IOCL in different capacities viz Gujarat, Mathura, Panipat, Haldia and Barauni Refineries in addition to two tenures at IOCL, RHQ New Delhi. I have many achievements to my credit. I was instrumental in implementing Advanced Process Controls at Gujarat, Panipat & Mathura refineries. In addition to the economic study on change in RON specifications post Ethanol blending and low cost revamp of CCRU at Mathura, I was the lead author of the Corporate Report on strategy for transportation of Euro-IV grade fuel through multiproduct pipelines which was highly valued and shared across the industry for implementation by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. I hold an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (Rajasthan). I have successfully completed an Executive Threshold Management Course from IIPM, Gurgaon conducted by IOCL in association with IIM Ahmedabad.
