About Rami Ojala

Since I have been deeply involved in the productization of consumer and, specifically, mobile devices. My diverse experience spans various activities, from early SoC design to ROM code development, certification, generic platform-level development, validation, debugging. I have also addressed end-user bugs, managed different debugging tools, handled requirements, cooperated with ODMs, and engaged in production activities, architecture, and system design. Recently (a few years), my focus has been on mobile device development at the bootloader (EDK2), secure boot, kernel, Linux services, and Android services level. I have continued to enhance my expertise in power management and energy-efficient computing, which have been constant themes throughout my career and remain integral to my daily work. Despite being a software developer, I have always maintained close cooperation with hardware teams, striving to understand the entire device's functionality in various scenarios. I have also been involved in non-functional areas such as thermal management, energy managmenet (charing) and performance optimization. I am fascinated by products that integrate hardware and software, with a particular interest in power management, energy efficiency, charng, and security. Recently, security has taken on a more significant role in my daily activities. Besides embedded devices, I am also interested in IoT (with a special mention of MQTT) and electrical mobility. My experience in productizing devices has been extensive and rewarding. I have been privileged to work with incredible colleagues and hope to continue this journey alongside them in the future. Diverse Programming Expertise: Proficient in C, Python, Bash, with prior experience in Java, C++, and Assembly. Keen interest in exploring Rust. Technical Specialization: Specialized in bootloader development (UEFI/EDK2), kernel drivers, Linux services, Android services and system control, with a focus on power, performance, thermal management, charging, and security. General debugging (logs, traces, JTAG, dumps,…). Improving Working Efficiency: Developed scripts and tools to enhance productivity, including Docker containers, virtual images and different kind of automatizations.
