About Ramya Pradhan

I am deeply passionate about technology enriching lives and making the experience of living truly wonderful. My doctoral research is in developing fault tolerant distributed data systems based on bee nest thermoregulation. I have begun to experiment with my mathematical model to alleviate over-specialization and improve serendipity in user-based collaborative recommender systems for top-N recommendations. It sure is a lot of fun to apply the abstract theoretical model to orthogonal avenues! I have previously held five industrial internship positions, in each of which my capabilities as a strong team player and an individual contributor with minimal guidance to software development were lauded. I have held teaching positions during the course of my graduate career and have always been appreciated for my attention to details while clearly communicating complex ideas and my ability to always be prepared (I am a Gold Star Girl Scout, after all!) to gracefully handle unexpected situations. I have also undertaken class projects that vary from techniques for obtaining vast data to novel techniques for managing their security on the cloud infrastructure. And, yes, security, both software and embedded, excite me!
