About Ran Perhar

Ran is a seasoned operations leader. He had his debut in the operations world in 1987 by becoming a leader in the Quality Circles initiative at the Pattison Sign Group. Ran has led teams to embrace change and sustain vibrant continuous improvement cultures to compete with the best in diverse operations, both in greenfield and brownfield settings. He has been trained and mentored at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Company, Cambridge, ON. He stays current with lean developments, continuous improvement, leadership and motivation through his networks. He has implemented Hoshin Kanri to align people, horizontally and vertically to the corporation’s vision and goals, focusing on a ‘vital few’ initiatives at a time. He enables cross-functional teams and enriches them by narrowing the gap between their knowledge and the experience. For him, change is an emotional, rather than an intellectual matter. He believes in influencing peoples’ hearts to trigger sustainable changes. He develops people into problem solvers, not taskmasters. He motivates and engages people by reinforcing the achievement numbers with stories of actual achievements. He believes in telling his direct reports what to do rather than how to to do it. With a Master’s degree in English, and Bachelor’s degrees in Science and Education, he is a versatile communicator and a lean educator/facilitator. Ran is a high achiever. The Pattison Sign Group gave him the “Highest Personal Achiever of the Year” award in for his outstanding contributions to the business. To honour his contributions to the cause of education, the technical education wing of Middlefield Collegiate in Markham, ON is named ‘Ran Perhar Centre of Technology’.
