About Randa Shehab

I joined the School of Industrial Engineering faculty in 1997, serving for 10 years as faculty and 10 years as the academic director. In 2014, with my colleagues in Computer Science, we launched an interdiscplinary Master's Degree program in Data Science and Analytics. Since January 2017, I have been serving as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the Gallogly College of Engineering. In this role, I oversee first year engineering courses, student enrichment programs, engineering outreach and recruiting, and other student affairs issues. I continue to teach courses in human factors as well as first-year engineering and my research interests are in human factors and engineering education. Specifically, my current research is funded through the National Science Foundation and is focused on identifying factors critical to the success of underrepresented / underserved minority students in engineering.Prior to joining OU on faculty, I spent a year at General Motors in Warren, MI in the Manufacturing Ergonomics Laboratory. My responsibilities at GM included the development of training and assessment tools for identifying occupational ergonomics hazards and ergonomics workplace analysis.My BS, MS, and PhD degrees are all in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.Specialties: engineering education, human-systems integration, human computer interaction
