About Randi Picarelli

I am currently invested in the most rewarding part of my career as a certified (ICF) Communication and Recovery Coach. In this capacity, I work with clients or couples in order to facilitate their growth and recovery in areas of assertiveness, boundaries, attachment, enmeshment, and love and sex addiction. As a trauma informed practitioner, my practice draws on a variety of methods and modalities; including some somatic exercises, talk therapy including DBT and CBT, and 12 Step practice. Additionally, for the past two decades I’ve been a university professor teaching Communication and Gender Studies with a focus on social justice. My course areas are Feminism, Communication and Gender, Intercultural Communication, and Interpersonal Communication. For ten years I served as the director of the Dept. of Communication Studies' internship program - where I was recognized for designing a program that met the needs of underresourced students. I have won a number of awards in my teaching practice for my Excellence in Service to Students and for creating safe, inspiring, and equitable lessons and practices for our LGBTQ+ students. For the past decade, I have been designing pedagogical workshops for other faculty, creating a program to mentor new faculty and bringing best practices to other instructors. This work parlayed itself into consulting, where I teach members of local not-for-profits public speaking and presentation skills.
