Background
About Randolph Andrews
Pre-professional training: Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Defense Specialist (US Army, 1982-1986) Pest Control (Licenses: Structural, Bird Control, Fumigation, 1987-1990) Formal academic training: B.A. 1993 (Board of Governors Degree, Liberal Arts) M.S. (Biology: Neurobehavioral Teratology) Post graduate training: Image analysis with human and non-human primate PET models for pharma and clinic (2001-present). I am an interdisciplinary neurobiologist with a background in analytical chemistry (neurotransmitter extraction and separation) and neurobehavioral teratology (automated behavioral testing). I developed severe allergies to rodents and rabbits during graduate school. I was recruited by a PET imaging CRO shortly after graduation and trained as an image analyst (primarily GLM models). I have gained expertise in the preprocessing and inferential analysis of medical images for neuropsychiatric drug development studies. For the past ten years, beside contractual drug development studies, I have been building a referential image database using SPM8/DARTEL and SPM12 segmentation for images acquired by the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). Current status includes over 3300 FDG-PET images, all PiB (c11-amyloid tracer) images from ADNI-1, and a growing list of AV45 (f18-amyloid tracer) and TAU images from ADNI-GO/2/3. Sampling includes discrete numerical data from an archive of over 800 VOIs from various published sources (including FreeSurfer v6.0) as well as cog. function items for roughly 80 metrics spanning over 10K visits. Current archive includes over data points. Other archived datasets include PPMI (Parkinsons), ADNI-DOD (PTSD, TBI), AIBL (Australian "ADNI"), BLSA (Baltimore Longit. Study Aging), DIAN (Dominantly Inherited Alz). I have also begun to sequester and process MRIs and PET scans from MIRIAD (UCL) and OASIS, and the Professional Fighters Brain Health Study.
