About Randy Brandt

Randy Brandt is an Associate Professor of Practice in the School of Media and Communication, College of Informatics, at Northern Kentucky University. In addition he is the Executive Director of the Kentucky Communication Association, and Faculty Advisor for the NKU Scuba Club. Brandt also is lead co-author of the forthcoming book,"New Perspectives of Organizational Communication: Listening and Responding to External Stakeholders," to be published by Palgrave MacMillan in January, 2024. Randy is retired Founder and Principal of Voice Crafter, a Cincinnati-based research and consulting firm. During his 38-year career in business, Dr. Brandt assisted more than 300 manufacturing and service firms in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America with their efforts to improve customer and employee experience and engagement. He is a recognized thought leader and practitioner in this arena, and in 2016 he was appointed to the "Panel of CX Experts" of the Customer Experience Professionals Association. In 2012, Brandt was named by Survey Magazine as one of “Twenty Researchers You Should Know.” Prior to founding Voice Crafter, Randy held senior leadership positions at Maritz CX (11 years) and Burke (16 years). Randy is a CXPA Certified Customer Experience Professional as well as a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, He is a former member of the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and a former member of the National Advisory Council on Policy and Technology for United States Environmental Protection Agency. Randy also is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Dr. Brandt has made over 300 presentations at national and international conferences since 1988, and has authored 34 articles appearing in a variety of academic and professional publications. Brandt holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a doctoral degree from Michigan State University. He is a former member of the faculties at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of North Texas. Randy currently is a member of the Association for Business Communication, the Customer Experience Professionals Association, the International Communication Association, the International Listening Association, the Kentucky Communication Association, the National Communication Association, and the Professional Association of Dive Instructors. Randy and his wife, Mary Beth, reside in Union, Kentucky, where they have been for the past 30 years.
