Forty years of IT and healthcare experience at various levels – Programmer/Analyst, Active Physician, Clinical Chief, Medical Informaticist. Subject matter expert in clinical software interaction, usability design, functional and technical requirements, and clinical workflow analysis. Served as an SME for the DoD’s Enterprise-wide EHR - AHLTA, advising on the methods of implementation and workflow for world-wide computerized patient records system. Instrumental in the development and training of the Tri-Service Workflow (TSWF) – a business process reengineering effort to streamline and standardize encounter documentation in AHLTA across all services. Responsible for the creation of enhanced data entry methods which allow providers to more easily document clinical encounters at the point of care. These tools are used across the Military Health System (MHS) in more than 2 million encounters a month. With the transition of the MHS to a new EHR – MHS GENESIS, a Cerner product, has been serving on the Tri-Service Workflow Advisory Groups (TSWAG) support team, supporting the transition from the AHLTA EHR to MHS GENESIS. Board certified in Internal Medicine. Medical Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, after attending George Washington University School of Medicine. Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
