Fiction Teaching I have published six novels and have won about a dozen awards for my writing. I run a web site that teaches aspiring novelists the skills they need to get published. I am the creator of the widely-used "Snowflake method" of writing a novel. I recently released software,"Snowflake Pro," which makes it faster, easier, and more fun to design a novel before writing it. I'm also the author of three nonfiction books on how to write fiction. Fiction Writing I've published six novels and won about a dozen awards for them. If you're willing to go, I will take you on an adventure to ancient Jerusalem. Two of my novels have won Christy awards. My fiction explores "life at the intersection of Faith Avenue and Science Boulevard." I don't believe there are any easy answers there, but I think it's worth at least trying to understand the questions. Computational Physics I have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from UC Berkeley and have spent about 30 years as a computational physicist. Since about I've worked on machine vision software for studying images of biological cells and tissues. I'm currently the Director of Software Engineering at Vala Sciences, in San Diego, where I am the architect for Vala's flagship product, CyteSeer. Faith/Science Issues I enjoy exploring the tough issues at the intersection of faith and science. I am not interested in the slash-and-burn tactics of either the far right or the far left. The far right likes to solve all its science problems by blaming those wicked secular humanists. The far left wants to blame all of society's problems on those fairy-tale fundamentalists. The truth is somewhere in the murky middle.
