About Randy Jones

I began my shipyard / marine career at Vancouver Shipyards in July of 1981 working in many aspects of the business including barge repair, rigging, electrical, mechanical, stores and forklift operator. I then progressed to crew leader on barge repair and spent another year working on the outside repair truck. My next step was heavy equipment dispatcher which then lead to shipyard scheduler, a position I held until 1994. My next progression came my way when I was asked to project manage a new construction vessel for Island Tug and Barge which wrapped up in 1995. Seaspan approached me that year and asked if I would be interested in applying for a position as a traffic coordinator in their General Towing Division, a position I held until During my time at Seaspan I was loaned back to VSY to help out with the Fast Ferry Project and spent a period of time as the outfitting coordinator. This takes us to where I took over once again as the Shipyard Scheduler / Marketing manager as well as taking on the role of Port Facility Security Officer in 2003. Beginning in 2004 I became the Shipyard Coordinator and shortly after asked if I could look after Seaspan's barges in a project management role.From 2005 until February 16th of 2015 I looked after both project management for Seaspan, third party work, Shipyard coordinating and filled in on occasion as the Assistant Shipyard Operations Director, during that period I was also heavily involved in the Shipyard Modernization Project. My new role beginning February 16th of 2015 will be the Barge Maintenance Terminal Manager for Seaspan.
