I got my big break with DoubleClick in DoubleClick was the Google of the time and their interviewing process was much like Google interviews today. After close to a dozen on-site interviews and telephone screens, their team shared with me the start date, the fact that they were hiring four account managers and that I was not to be one of them. Terrible news or was it? Instead of accepting this rejection, I suited up on that start date and went on over to the West side of Manhattan and sat in their lobby for a few hours to earn myself a few minutes with their Vice President. I received many strange looks and questions but persevered and sat patiently for my moment. It finally arrived two plus hours in. Their VP looked at me and asked me what I was doing there? I did not plan my comment, nor did I have a script. I had no business being there but with sincerity, empathy and eye contact exclaimed “I thought I would give you another chance!” Astonished, she had no words and after a few more moments that seemed like forever she said “step into my office” I did, and lucky for me my tech career began from there as she did not know what to do with me other than hire me! My karma driven side hustle is "The Village". We are 1,800 plus marketing\cx members strong looking out for one another whilst searching for the next company to contribute to! My day job at Netcore?
