About Randy Nelson

Randy is the CEO and Founder of VFS Fire & Security Services. For over 25 years he has led the fire protection industry in the United States and globally. During the last decade, Randy has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and quoted extensively as a subject matter expert on fire protection and security services, infrastructure, and future market direction. For the last 20 years, Randy has played a central role in shaping the fire protection code in the United States, assuming various leadership roles, in the National Fire Protection Association’s Technical Committee, at the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, at the American Fire Sprinkler Association, and at the Fire Sprinkler Contractors’ Association. He has also been featured several times in Sprinkler Age Magazine and ranked on the list of Orange County’s '100 Fastest-Growing Companies' in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. He holds a B.S. in Construction Engineering from Iowa State University and is a Fire Protection PE (Professional Engineer). In his free time, he enjoys football, international cycling, investing, management literature, and competing in the World Series of Poker.
