Background
About Randy Roy
Experienced and Certified Life Safety Specialist, Pipefitter Foreman, Fire Sprinkler Fitter, and Safety and Occupational Health Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the law enforcement industry and facilities maintenance. Highly Skilled in maintaining facilities in all trades. Well versed in Microsoft Office, Training, Management, and Leadership. I started my career in the U.S Navy as a Damaged Controlman shipboard firefighter and focused on my career in the fire protection field. I was honorably discharged. I started college at Naugatuck Valley Community college working on my associates in Fire Protection and Administration. I then transferred to to the University of New Haven and graduated with a 3.1GPA with a Bachelor of Science - BS focused in Fire/Arson Investigation and Prevention all while working fulltime and deploying to Afghanistan with the U.S. Navy as. Correctional Officer. I have planned, laid out, and implemented the Victaulic Steam Grooving system for the institution. Utilizing this system makes it safer and more time efficient as to not having to weld steam pipe anymore. We are the first institution to utilize and implement this type of system for the BOP. I have been the project developer and manager for replacing antiquated expensive institutional steam dryers, institutional steam kettles and steam dishwashing machine with highly inexpensive and very efficient gas fired dryers, gas fired kettles, and energy efficient electric dish machines. By doing this it uses less water, chemicals, and steam so that the steam boilers can function more efficiently and focus more on steam heating. It reduces the costs of operating and repairs on the systems. I also worked many hours in the high pressure steam boiler plant for almost 7 years. I have coordinated 5 different trainings onsite with TPC Trainco for facilities staff to help enhance their careers. The classes were plumbing, pipefitting, welding, pump repair and installation, and steam boiler safety maintenance. I took a promotion as a Safety Specialist because it is more aligned for my future. I am backflow certified in the state of Connecticut. I have completed my hours towards my Fire Sprinkler Apprenticeship Unlimited Journeyman license. I have had extensive fire protection systems training with Oklahoma State University, Chubb Insurance Fire Pump Training, Tyco/Simplex Grinnell Fire Sprinkler systems training.
