Across every chapter of my career—telecommunications, manufacturing, consulting, healthcare, public health, and education—technology has been the throughline. It’s the lens I use to understand organizations, untangle complexity, and design better ways of working. In the last few years, AI has changed the pace and the stakes. What used to be “multi‑year transformation” can now start with a 90‑day pilot. Ideas that once required months of custom development can be safely prototyped and tested in days. That shift pushed me to focus not just on technology, but on the people and programs that are under the most pressure to deliver more with less. I saw the same pattern across government, healthcare, and supplier-diversity programs: MWBE/MBE offices buried in spreadsheets and manual reporting. Primes struggling to track and prove performance with diverse suppliers.MBEs winning contracts but fighting to keep up with delivery, documentation, and compliance. That’s why Rutledge & Associates, founded in 2018, is now dedicated to AI-powered modernization for supplier-diversity ecosystems—agencies, primes, and diverse suppliers working together. Today, my work centers on: Designing AI-enabled workflows and platforms that make MWBE/MBE and vendor data usable, visible, and trustworthy. Helping primes and agencies build the dashboards, reporting, and governance they need to meet their goals without burning out their teams. Equipping MBEs and other diverse suppliers with automation, playbooks, and practical tools so they can execute reliably and scale. Underneath all of that is a simple philosophy: build by learning. Prototyping—whether with no-code, low-code, or enterprise-grade AI—is how we discover what actually works in the real world, not just on a slide. It’s how we turn policy, program goals, and big visions into workflows, data, and systems people will actually use.
