About Randy van Dusen

As the Air Operations Team Sergeant at the Sacramento Police Department, I have 25 years of law enforcement experience, with a focus on managing and leading teams in often complex and high-risk operations. With 8 years of supervisory experience, I am responsible for contract management, incident reporting, policy development, and budgeting for the Air Operations Team, ensuring compliance with FAA, OSHA and hazardous materials laws as well enforcing safety standards. I also have extensive experience as a leadership and critical incident response instructor, a SWAT K9 handler and instructor, a fugitive apprehension team sergeant, and a part-time academy instructor. I am passionate about teaching, mentoring, and supporting my fellow officers and the community. I am also a member of the Sacramento Regional All Hazards Incident Management Team, where I contribute to the logistics division. In my spare time, I enjoy flying and trail running, and I have completed several ultra-marathons, including the Western States 100, Javelina 100 and Rio del Lago 100.
