About Rania Fayed
Dr. Rania completed her Ph.D. degree in Construction Engineering from The American University in Cairo in 2017, her research is related to risk management in electrical substations’ construction contracts. She completed her master’s degree in law with specialization in Construction Law and Arbitration/Adjudication from Robert Gordon University (Scotland) in 2023, where she researched the challenges the engineer may face while exercising his/her fair-neutral role in adjudicating disputes under the FIDIC 2017 edition in light of both civil law and common law. She also completed her bachelor's and master’s degrees in construction engineering from Mansoura University (EGYPT) in 2002 and 2006. She is a Fellow under the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified. She is a Committee Member and Education and Training Officer of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Egypt Section). She is also the vice president of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), Egypt section and Mena Region and North Africa Liaison in AACE International Women in Project Controls Committee. Dr. Rania has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, the majority of which is in contracts, claims, and cost management, encompassing positions in various project management and contracting firms such as Hill International and PROJACS International. She handled contractual duties through both the pre-contract and post- contract stages, dealing with different types of contracts and several procurement routes as well as claim settlement and dispute resolution. Meanwhile, she has an experience with different forms of contracts, namely, FIDIC 1987, & 2017 editions and AIA as well as legal experience in terms of civil law and common law. She is also the author of several articles that have been published in international journals. She also participated in arbitration cases and served as a counsel and expert. She is currently Contracts Director at Hill International for North Africa and Middle East Projects as well as Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department, Kafr Elsheikh University, Egypt.
