I am a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with over 24 years of experience in the accounting profession. My career has been defined by a commitment to advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles within the field of accounting and finance. I have been at the forefront of promoting sustainable business practices and corporate governance in India and internationally. Currently serving as the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for 2024-25, I have led initiatives to integrate ESG factors into accounting standards and promote transparent financial reporting. One of my key achievements has been the implementation of the Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN), which ensures real-time verification and improves the integrity of financial certifications, contributing to a more accountable profession. I also launched the 40/40 Awards, in collaboration with CNBC, to recognize young professionals who demonstrate leadership in ESG-oriented business practices. My leadership extends to several prominent global platforms, including the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the South Asia Federation of Accountants (SAFA), where I have worked to influence policy and governance frameworks. As a Board Member for the Ministry of Finance and the National Foundation for Corporate Governance, I have contributed to developing accounting standards that foster financial transparency and sustainability across industries. These efforts have positively impacted over professionals globally. In addition to my work in governance, I have led digital innovation initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of accounting. This includes developing AI-driven tools and digital platforms that streamline financial reporting and improve sustainability practices. I have also focused on financial literacy and the empowerment of the next generation of professionals, launching training programs for non-CA students that have trained over individuals in financial governance at the local level. With a strong foundation in leadership, strategic vision, and collaboration, I remain dedicated to shaping the future of accounting by promoting ethical practices, sustainability, and innovation within the profession. My goal is to continue driving reforms that enhance the accountability of financial reporting and contribute to the sustainable growth of the global economy.
