About Ranjitsinh Disale

In Dec 2020 I was honored as the recipient of the Global Teacher Prize which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize for teaching. As a young teacher I overcame challenges of poverty language barriers teenage marriages parental apathy and more to make education available to remote villages. I championed education for girls and pushed boundaries so that children typically bypassed by the system could find an open door to quality education. This international award was a humbling validation and much appreciated celebration of my life’s work as an Educator and Change Agent for Education. The award and prize money allowed me to stretch the impact of my work to a global platform. I was appointed a Brand Ambassador for the State Innovation Society by the Government of Maharashtra. In 2021 I was appointed the Education Advisor for the World Bank and a Climate Action Program Advisor for the OECD. Education is the Birthright of Every Student ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ In 2009 only 2% of girls attended school. I spent years addressing the importance of education for girls. Today 100% of girls in my region attend regularly teenage marriages (once common) no longer happen and boys and girls are growing up with an expanded view of the world and their own future.
