About Ranka Gest

Music has always been my passion, as I have been studying music my whole life. Having accomplished my studies in classical and jazz piano, I also hold a master’s degree in Musicology. I got my start as a choir member of the Croatian National Theater, and then moved on to become a music supervisor and writer for a local Croatian radio station. Further on, I settled as a music supervisor at the multi-media production company La Cosa, in Milan. Over the last twenty years, I have provided music supervison to all the major TV broadcasters in Italy. Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work on a large variety of projects and covered various roles, such as: Project Manager and Operative Coordinator: team leadership, team communication, planning, coaching and supervision of the production quality. I worked within a music production area, where I worked with orchestras, composers and performers of various genres in recording shows and music backgrounds. I worked in countless productions of documentaries, news, sports, entertainment and promos where I supplied music choices and editing. I gave my contribution in interactive collaborations as a part of creative teams while working with TV writers, directors, producers, journalists, choreographers, composers, musicians, musical ensembles, dancers, hosts, promoters and audio engineers. I covered various tasks such as: assistance to the video recordings of musical events, music selection, editing of title music, jingles, choice and editing of sound effects, audio pre production and the supervision of the audio post production. Music rights reporting. I worked in productions and programs for some of the most important italian TV broadcasters, including: MEDIASET (Paperissima, NEWS, Magnifica Italia, Scherzi a parte, MTC, Band.it, Italian Teen Television, etc.), SKY ITALIA (Sky sport, Sky arte, Sky sport 24, etc), MTV ITALIA (Very Victoria), DISCOVERY EMEA (Travel & Living), FREEMANTLE (XFactor), REAL TIME TV (Take me out), MAGNOLIA (L’isola dei famosi) and many others. I am currently covering the position of Music Supervisor, while working remotely from Stockholm.
