About Raphael Dahmen

I am a board-certified MD clinical pharmacologist (Germany) with previous clinical hands-on experience as principal investigator, as well as a long experience in early clinical development. After several years in primary care hospitals during my residencies in Germany and the United Kingdom, two research fellow positions at the University Hospitals in Bonn and Cologne, I performed the medical specialist training for Clinical Pharmacology at two in-house research clinics in Cologne and Neuss to eventually complete it at Sanofi-Aventis in Frankfurt, Germany (final specialist registration in 2010 at the Medical Council Frankfurt, Hessen). In 2006 I joined Sanofi R&D and have been working on the clinical development of small molecules, small peptides and mAbs from various indications, e.g. cardiovascular, neurology, metabolism/diabetes and others. From 2020 until Jan. 2024, I have been acting as Early Clinical Lead at Bayer in Berlin (Germany), primarily on new assets in the field of immunology, also in metabolism. Since Feb. 2024, I am now at Boehringer Ingelheim working on early clinical development projects in the area of inflammatory/immunological diseases. My responsibilities included drafting concepts for early clinical development plans, as well as the translational approaches for an early proof of concept. Clinical trial experiences range from FiH to mechanistic and PoC studies including set-up of special PD methodologies. Over the last years, I have been part of core teams to author the CTDs for 2 NDAs/MAAs.
