About Raphael Dias e Silva

Raphael Dias e Silva is an Exhibitions Manager and Curator at World Press Photo, based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Originally from Brazil, he has a background in International Security, specializing in conflict resolution and arts-based approaches to peacebuilding. Over the past four years at World Press Photo, Raphael manages a yearly portfolio of 25 global exhibitions, organizing annual and thematic shows that engage diverse audiences. He is also an active international speaker, having presented in locations ranging from Hong Kong, Morocco, Brazil, Jordan, Canada and Egypt, on topics such as photojournalism’s past, present, and future, press freedom, ethics in visual journalism, and representation in visual journalism, with a focus on gender and regional diversity. Most recently, he has been involved in the new edition of the Joop Swart Masterclass, a leading education program for professional photojournalists. Through his work, Raphael advocates for ethical practices and diverse representation in the field of photojournalism, fostering meaningful global dialogue on its impact and evolution.
