About Raquel Lebrero

Raquel Lebrero obtained her degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Valladolid (UVa, Spain) and the Imperial College of London, achieving the double degree in 2008. In 2009 she completed the Master in Process and Systems Engineering at UVa, where she also conducted her PhD Thesis on biotechnologies for odour abatement. She got her PhD degree in 2013. In 2015 she also completed the degree in Environmental Science at the National University of Distance Education. In February 2019 Raquel Lebrero obtained a position as Associated Professor at the Dpt. of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology (UVa), which she helds since then. Raquel has carried out several research stays in leading research centers in the area of atmospheric odorous pollution (Water Research Center, University of New Sowth Wales, and Environmental Organic Chemistry and Technology Group in Ghent University). She has also carried out a 6-months posdoctoral research stay at Sao Paulo University (Brazil) focused on biogas upgrading biotechnologies, a 3-months stay as invited professor at Columbia University (USA) and a 3-months research stay in the Federico Santa María University (Chile) with a research grant from the chilean government. To date, Raquel Lebrero has published 70 research articles in international journals, from which more than 90% are Q1, she has co-authored 14 international and 7 national book chapters and she has edited a book. Her publications have been cited more than 1800 times, with a h inex of 24. She has directed two PhD Thesis and she is currently supervising 8 Thesis, together with several Research Works, Final Degree Projects and Master Thesis. Raquel Lebrero is PI of 5 Research Projects and 9 R&D contracts with national and international companies. Over the past 10 years, Raquel has presented 56 contributions in international conferences, 39 as oral presentations, besides being invited to 12 seminars. She has been member of the scientific committee of 12 international conferences, project evaluator in 4 countries, member of the PhD evaluation committee of 3 international Thesis and is regular reviewer in more than 20 JCR journals. During her research career, besides consolidating the experience gained in the field of biological waste gas treatment and valorization (odors, volatile organic compounds and greenhouse gases), she has expanded her research lines by collaborating and leading projects focused on biogas and wastewater treatment and valorization through microalgae technology.
