I’m Tuan Haroon Rashid Bari—most people know me as Rashid Bari. I hold a 5-year NZ Open Work Visa and am based in Auckland. I’ve embraced opportunities to engage with NZ’s dynamic work environment, including part-time roles that reinforce my adaptability and commitment to contributing locally while pursuing IT leadership opportunities. With over 20 years of experience, I specialise in delivering cost-effective IT infrastructure solutions that help businesses grow. My career began troubleshooting desktop computers in Sri Lanka. Over time, I transitioned to leading cloud and hybrid infrastructure projects for small-to-medium enterprises in Oman, focusing on cost efficiency and scalability. Now, I’m helping businesses modernise their IT environments to stay competitive. At Al-Ghalbi Group, I was promoted to Senior Section Head within five years. I led teams to deliver impactful projects, maintained 99.9% system uptime, and implemented secure cloud migrations and ERP integrations that transformed operations. Currently, I work part-time remotely for World Web IT Solutions LLC (Oman) while engaging with NZ’s dynamic work environment through local part-time roles—a balance that highlights my adaptability and commitment to contributing to both global and local IT landscapes. What drives my work? Automation & Efficiency: I automate repetitive tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Batch) and tools like Chocolatey, cutting manual effort by 50%+. Cost-Effective Innovation: I use open-source tools (e.g, RustDesk, Uptime Kuma) and explore platforms like Cloudflare (WAF, Zero Trust, Tunnels) to enhance security and reduce costs. Containerisation: I deploy Docker containers for tools like Uptime Kuma and RustDesk. I’m also exploring ERP integration to improve scalability and simplify deployments. Outside work, I experiment with these tools to simplify IT operations. Whether refining automation pipelines, testing Cloudflare’s security features, or optimising containerised environments, my goal is to make IT infrastructure faster, cheaper, and future-proof.
