About Ratika Kumar
I am research and evaluation professional with over 10 years of experience using a broad spectrum of research methods in program implementation and evaluation, qualitative and quantitative research and evidence review. My current research focus is on improving oral health and oral health services for people from priority populations. For the last five years, my research focus has been Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. I worked alongside Indigenous colleagues to research and implement culturally appropriate smoking cessation training (SISTAQUIT)to health professionals who provide healthcare for pregnant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women. My other ongoing and future projects include exploring health promotion needs of refugees, mental health in rural and remote populations and improving health outcomes of Indigenous populations. I am passionate about community and consumer involvement in research to ensure better health and research outcomes for the population.
