About Raudah Mohammed

Ms. Mohammed worked in the soil laboratory at TER (1978) Ltd in Valsayn, Trinidad, while pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies (UWI). The internship piqued her interest in geotechnical engineering as it required her to perform soil laboratory tests according to ASTM requirements. After completing her BSc degree in 2010, Ms. Mohammed worked with RM Engineering as a Junior Civil Engineer. There she worked on the design of several steel structures and their foundations. With an avid interest in improving the resilience of SIDS to climate change through the built environment, Ms. Mohammed enrolled in the Master of Coastal Engineering and Management degree at the UWI, which she completed in 2015. While pursuing her MSc degree at the UWI, Ms. Mohammed accepted a position as Geotechnical Engineer at Capital Company Limited in Carenage, Trinidad. Her role requires her to supervise onshore and marine geotechnical investigations and conduct onsite testing and reporting. In her eight years at Capital Signal, Ms. Mohammed’s role evolved to include liaising with suppliers, contractors, and consultants; communicating with state agencies and local authorities for relevant permissions for marine construction works; writing specifications; preparing scopes of work, cost estimates and project schedules, and the management and handover of marine construction projects. In 2016, Ms. Mohammed pursued a Master of Advanced Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Surrey, where she graduated with Distinction. Recognizing the importance of reciprocity and collaboration, Ms. Mohammed took on the role of Instructor at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) as a member of the Project Management and Civil Infrastructure Unit. In her 8 years at UTT, she has delivered courses in geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transport engineering and construction technologies. While on staff, she sat on the Teaching and Learning Committee, as well as the Unit’s Research Committee, and contributed to the Unit’s Accreditation effort. A reliable and ambitious individual who works as an effective team member on a range of projects whilst producing high quality work under pressure, Ms. Mohammed is currently based in the Toronto area and is willing to travel worldwide as required.
