Background

About Raul Nevarez

I am a senior student at Texas A&M University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. I have completed two research opportunities at the university since May 2023, focusing on the application and analysis of the IPR curve for production engineering and horizontal EOR methods in carbonate fields. I have also completed an internship as an assistant superintendent at Noble General Contractors, where I gained valuable experience in project management and construction supervision. As a research assistant, I have developed in-depth knowledge of the IPR curve's purpose and construction using limited data and utilized basic VBA code within Excel to create a fully functional workbook that can be used easily and cheaply on the field. I have also participated in another research project with Dr. Iskander Diyashev, exploring horizontal EOR methods and completion strategies to increase the sweep efficiency of reservoirs, and conducting a case study of Saudi Arabian unconventional gas plays and their viability. I am passionate about learning new technologies and innovations in the oil and gas industry, and I have attended the IPTC as a student delegate, where I learned from panel talks and projects tailored specifically to the students, regarding the future of the industry. I believe I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as well as a collaborative and supportive attitude. I know the aspects in which I fall short, such as industry experience, can be overcome with the hardworking attitude and perseverance I have shown throughout my life. As a first-generation college student, navigating through college and especially professional life has been challenging, but just like anything else in my life, I know my strong desire to learn and improve will allow me to get where I need to be.
