I run a music tech startup called Fairplay, which is a first of its kind, music platform for hassle-free sync music licensing in India. Through the platform, music can be readily classified into genres, moods, themes to match with a piece of content and once a user identifies what artist or piece of music fits their content best, they can use our simple licensing flow to proceed with obtaining a sync licence. The platform is aimed to make the complicated world of sync licensing easy for both, the rights holder as well as potential users/licensees of this music. Our catalogue features tracks from some of the best acts from India and abroad like AP Dhillon, Anuv Jain, Divine, Shubh and more, along with catalogues from top labels such as Mass Appeal, Gully Gang, Cherry Red Records, to name a few. My journey in the music industry started with VFLAMBDA, a Music Marketing firm, offering a single-window access for all the services needed by independent musicians to get their music across to the right audience. I launched it as a consequence of having difficulty in finding the right opportunities and information as an independent musician myself, and not knowing how to go about making a career in the music business. In the 3 years of running it, I gained a great deal of experience in the music industry and have also started selling official licensed merchandise for artists such as Deadmau5, Marshmello, Skrillex, Kygo, Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Tiesto and DJ Snake. I also write a weekly newsletter called Perfunktory (perfunktory.substack.com) which has been steadily growing and also have a podcast which is supported by one of the programmes from Spotify. As for my content creator journey, I was a part of the inaugural cohort of the LinkedIn Creator Accelerator Program in India. Previous work experience includes a 3+ year stint at EY, a secondment at EY Rotterdam, initiating a new service line at the EY Gurgaon office with expected revenue generation of USD $5 million per annum, acting as the Vice President Finance of AIESEC Delhi University and, building India’s largest pet festival. My biggest strengths are my natural curiosity, my entrepreneurial spirit and my ability to view ideas through both a creative and strategic lens. I strive to take action on my thoughts and ideas every day and I pride myself on doing what's right, while elevating and empowering the people around me.
