About Ray E. Reichenberg

My research has been focused on innovative approaches to developing and applying advanced techniques in psychometrics and quantitative research methods to problems in education with the goal of improving student outcomes. I am particularly interested in research at the intersection of measurement and the learning sciences; exploration and evaluation of innovative or novel approaches to teaching and assessment; and applications of artificial intelligence in education. My substantive interests focus largely on best practices for designing, delivering, and assessing the quality of digital learning applications as well as research around the impact of social and emotional components of learning (e.g, school climate, student sense of belongingness). In my current role, I help to oversee the research aspects of the National Monitoring Study of Student Achievement - a large scale progress monitoring project funded by the Ministry of Education which aims to provide insights into the state of New Zealand's schools for use in policy- and decision-making. In addition to that work, I also design and deliver undergraduate and graduate level courses, mentor graduate students, serve on thesis/dissertation committees, and provide service to both the university as well as my professional organizations.
