While being responsible for programs and services to help nonprofits follow best management practices at the Center for Nonprofit Management, I worked on bringing social enterprise development programs to the North Texas region. This work included identifying and developing a social business venture that would benefit nonprofits and provide financial resources to invest in nonprofits. This venture is a part of Insurance One and is designed to provide all lines of business insurance for nonprofits and other commercial businesses. Insurance One has extensive experience working with nonprofits, churches and faith-based organizations. Its one of the largest independent insurance agencies in Texas with 16 offices and $100 million in premiums. We insure over nonprofits and churches representing about $20 million in premiums. With my experience working with nonprofits and Insurance One's experience in this market, we are uniquely positioned to provide insurance products and risk assessment to protect the missions and resources of so many nonprofits that are vital to our entire community. I am leading the insurance business venture and have started the business development work. This is a great opportunity for nonprofits, Insurance One and me.
