About Ray Ramirez

My career journey has given me satisfying and varying roles, and, along with these roles, different and challenging responsibilities. Yes, I can honestly state that my innate curiosity to discover this world, coupled with a desire to find my place in it, has always guided me through my choices because, after all, it is the journey that counts. My journey has encompassed being an educator; a surgical technologist, a surgical first assistant; a supply chain materials manager; an SPD/OR/ASC Manager, a system value analysis manager; a clinical/supply chain data analyst; a research assistant, and, oddly enough, owner of my own medical staffing agency. Currently, my responsibilities are as a system supply chain director for an independent, catholic based, stand-alone, safety net hospital. The sole 126 year mission of this magnificent institution has been to provide healthcare to disadvantaged and vulnerable populations of Chicagoans seeking a combination of both medical and spiritual therapies. The healing of the sick does not go far enough to describe the "pure work" that occurs within this edifice. In summary, I enjoy what I do, the contribution that I make, and how it ultimately affects the community. Along each phase of my career journey, each phase has instilled in me an even greater desire, both professionally and personally, to add long-term value and sustainable solutions to the healthcare paradigm. Solutions that balance the precious limited resources we have in healthcare with the necessary empathy to be efficacious. I also bring to the table strong proficiency in HT-SME (i.e. healthcare technology subject matter expertise) ranging from the MS suite pack; the EHR Meditech database, and firmware applications such as PILOT, PRIMROSE, CUBENIX and PREMIER. My managerial nexus has always been to provide customer service that serves (i.e. this translates into safe, effective, evidenced based, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and always equitable treatment to my staff, patients and their families), and a robust communication and problem-solving cache. That being stated, I am always willing to share my expertise with colleagues, partake of an opportunity to speak more fully on healthcare topics, and, to potentially partner my skill sets with your organizations business metrics and its mission philosophy.
