Background
About Ray Rowland
Ray Rowland started grading and irrigating row crop farms in 1989. What started as one man show with two 7250 Case tractors and a few old dirt pans, has turned into a solid business with multiple employees, thousands of dollars' worth of equipment improving over acres across northern Arkansas and southeast Missouri. Soon his son Travis joined the company and today Travis runs the land excavation division allowing Ray to focus on investment opportunities. Farmers in the mid-south trust Ray’s advice when trying to improve yields. His ability to look at a farm and intuitively know exactly where the dirt needs to be moved, how many wells need to be drilled, and where drainage ditches need to run has made him one of the most sought after land graders in delta region. Over the last 12 years Ray has made thousands buying and reselling over 5,400 acres of un-irrigated “dry” farm land that others called undeveloped land. In 2001 he started with acres and in 2013 he sold over acres. Using his knowledge and experience he has been able to produce the largest yields with the smallest investment in grading and irrigating. Plus, he has leased those farms to experienced farmers who have a history of producing successful yields. Those higher yields along with increasing commodity prices have produced a steady stream of annual revenue for owners as well as appreciated land values for their investments. Ray is one of the best at finding dry farms that are not being irrigated. He is constantly on the look for farms that meet his strict investment criteria. As a known buyer he scouts hundreds of farms each year, but only about a dozen are reasonably priced and have the ability to be affordably irrigated making them a worthwhile return on investment for investors.
