About Raymond Bernal

As a scholar who is passionate about health and sports medicine, I am constantly seeking meaningful opportunities to be a contributing member of my field and community. While studying sports medicine at Pepperdine University, I was involved in clinical roles as an EMT in ambulance-bound medicine as well as a member of the medical staff for a homeless shelter’s recuperative care program. I simultaneously participated in research that investigated the relationship between vision and balance. After graduating from Pepperdine Cum Laude and on the Dean’s List, I pursued an M.S. in integrative anatomical sciences at the University of Southern California. While there, I informed my graduate studies with my background in sports medicine, eventually partaking in biomechanics research. I also took multiple opportunities to develop my pedagogical skills through my roles as a gross anatomy tutor and teaching assistant at USC’s dental and medical schools. Today, I stay grounded in my passions for health and sports medicine via academic and clinical positions. I have now returned to Pepperdine as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sports Medicine, teaching upper and lower division courses. I am also working for a sports medicine company as an EMT, promoting health and treating injuries at sporting events. I look forward to finding more opportunities to develop my passions as I pursue medical school and a career as a physician.
