About Raymond Grocela

People and Problem-solving. Aside from Pizza, those are my two favorite P words. And I like them best when they are served together. I have always been super passionate about helping people in need, whether its sticking them with an Epi-Pen or simply bringing a smile to someone's face. In recent years, I have begun channeling this passion into potential career paths. Over the summer of 2022, I interned at a residential community for young adults with special needs called Yellow House. I learned from rest of the staff, who all have unique and professional background in this area, how to provide the best quality of care for these extraordinary individuals. I was delighted when they took me on as a fully fledged staff member during the academic year. Continuing the relationships I built with the residents and staff alike over the summer was such a joy, and I have learned so much about displayed behavior and how to reduce anxiety in neurodivergent individuals while providing assistance so that they may lead fun and meaningful lives. I am currently taking a gap semester, and am working at Mass General, assisting in research done on Celiac disease (which is affecting an increasing number of people). I have found this a fulfilling way to feed my passion for helping others as well as learning the process of how clinical research is conducted. This has been a great opportunity as I have had the privilege of working for and learning from very talented individuals who are extremely knowledgable about Celiac.
