Background

About Raymond Johnson

Raymond Johnson is the School Manager/Instructor at Pine Hill-Nonpublic School in Marina, CA. He teaches Life/Physical Science, Math and Vocational Education to a small group of junior high and high school students having emotional behavioral disorders that also test on the spectrum for Autism/Asperger Syndrome. His Master’s Degree in teaching was conferred through National University March 2016; where he also received his level II Mild to Moderate Educational Specialist Credential. In addition to an M.A. degree, he previously obtained an A.A degree from Monterey Peninsula College, as well as a B.A. degree in Liberal Studies, Level I Preliminary Teaching Credential and CLAD certificate from C.S.U. Monterey Bay. Mr. Johnson has over 15 years experience working in the education field. As a special education teacher, he has taught several subject areas, such as: English, math, life/earth science, computers, vocational education, health as well as self-published Central Bay High School’s 1st annual yearbook. He enjoys not only working with students helping to identify their interests, developing their skills, establishing goals for future educational/career plans; but also developing projects, problem solving and identifying new ways of teaching information. Mr. Johnson uses a student centered approach to teaching, gaining student academic interest while maintaining state standards in curriculum. An important component to student development is through physical education, much of my community involvement is spent by volunteering in various youth and community activities. Some of the organizations I volunteer are: Pony League Softball, Jr. Giants Baseball, Little League Baseball, First Tee Golf and SurfRider Foundation. I see there being an importance to social involvement for the improved development of our youth as well as being involved in building a better community.
