About Raynor Large

I began my business career working for a small technology company in Philadelphia, providing an online listing management system for the third-largest Realtor base in the United States. Due to the tumultuous nature of the industry through the housing collapse, I had the opportunity take on multiple roles in Human Resources, Finance, and Marketing. Moving to Maine in 2014, I got a job at a small turnaround firm, doing “hard consulting” – using financial models (Income Statement & Balance Sheet to Cash Flow) to understand a client’s business and to map the future direction. With this approach, I helped in a variety of situations – transitions of ownership (internal & external), entrepreneurial startups, bankruptcy (restructuring & liquidation), receiverships, explosive growth opportunities, acquisitions, refinancing, and more. In 2015, a client determined it would be in their best interest to advertise & sell their business in the general market. After some research, I approached a commercial & business brokerage to help us in the sale. Through this relationship, I pursued a real estate license and became part of their team, while maintaining my role with the turnaround firm. I quickly developed a specialty in learning the various ways that the open market determines value, and leveraging that into insights on how a business owner can improve the value of their business & plan for an eventual sale or transition. In addition to business brokerage, I provided a wide range of commercial real estate services – ROI analysis, leasing, purchase & sale negotiations, cap rate analysis, etc. – all of which are critical in understanding the best path forward for a business. In early 2019, I joined the SBDC, and now leverage my background to help all manner of business owners. I have a deep appreciation for the entrepreneurial spirit that is alive and well in Maine, and am thrilled at the opportunity I have to support those brave enough to take on business ownership.
