About Rebeka Herron

I've been told I have a keen eye for story and a memory like a steel trap when it comes to story details. I am a Mixed Raced Latina filmmaker with over 10 years experience in the film, television and animation industry. Alumna of Capilano University’s Motion Picture Program, Women in the Director’s Chair and the Producers’ Lab at the Canadian Film Centre. She is a member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, ACTRA Toronto and the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA). In 2022, I participated in the BANFF Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media at the Banff Film Festival. In 2023, I was nominated for the Sault Ste Marie Chamber of Commerce ATHENA® Leadership Award and the RBC Women of Influence Award. Throughout my career I have worked in different formats including working in the story department on lifestyle and reality programs, including the award-winning series Ice Pilots NWT, producing VR for Perspective Films, and line producing at Inuit production company Taqqut Productions, working on multiple animated children’s series, the award winning Shaman’s Apprentice, a stop-motion project directed by Inuit filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk; and UNNIKKATUAT, a four part documentary series following the creation of a multimedia circus performance that was shot in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Yellowknife, and Igloolik, Nunavut. My work includes directing and producing Kiss My Incoming Abs Season 1 & 2 (NOVUS TV), writing segments on Anaana's Tent Season 3 and Tundra Friends Season 1, directing for Kuluk Season 1, and producing 5 features during the pandemic, including directing my debut feature film Armchair Traveller. I own the production company Rusty Halo Productions and Sault Production Equipment Services, co-own 180 Sisterhood Productions (all companies based out of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario), and am co-founder and co-director of the Sault Film Festival.
