Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Rebekah Burrough and I am a Registered Nurse who previously specialized in Labor and Delivery. Due to my family moving to Thailand summer 2021, I am now using my Labor and Delivery Nursing experience as a writer. I graduated in 2014 from James Madison University's BSN program in Virginia. After graduation, I worked over two years on an inpatient medical/surgical unit in Harrisonburg, VA. In 2016 I transitioned into Labor and Delivery at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA where I worked for over 4 years. During my experience as a bedside nurse, I discovered my passion of working as a patient advocate. I believe that education is the foundation to being a successful advocate. In the realm of health and medical education, the ultimate goal is to equip the patient to become their own advocate, allowing them to make informed decisions regarding their wellbeing. As a bedside nurse, I loved when I was able to sit down and provide patients with thorough education and answers to their questions. However, the fast paced environment of the unit meant there was rarely enough time for in depth conversation. My goal in writing is to create articles and content that can serve as educational material for women during their pregnancy or in their early postpartum weeks.
