About Rebekah White

I currently work as Laboratory Coordinator for the Molecular Pathology Department of Intermountain Healthcare’s Central Laboratory. During my time here I have striven to develop in my field by enrolling in leadership, query and communication courses while managing the day-to-day of a high-volume molecular lab. My most recent project was the coordination of COVID-19 testing for Utah’s largest healthcare provider. These experiences have increased my capacity to handle novel tasks as a leader and a scientist. Last year my department had nearly a 50% turnover, primarily due to retirements. In that time, I made training and face-to-face relationship development my highest goal; all while maintaining my duties as coordinator. Spending time with each employee helped position me as a trusted resource for the team and solidified my relationships with both new and more seasoned scientists. My career has exposed me to multiple emerging technologies in industry, research and clinical settings; each has given me insight into the needs of differing laboratories. My master’s project utilized next-gen sequencing, genetic mapping and molecular cytogenetic technologies to complete a large sequencing project. My current position gives me opportunity to be involved in planning and training as we bring new equipment and technologies into the department; these include quantitative and qualitative viral testing, as well as HER2 FISH testing and several oncology panels.
