Fiber Optic Technician Duties and Responsibilities Splicing, testing, and termination of optical fiber cable. Using Fujikura FSM 20 CS-II Arc Fusion Splicer. Use of OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer), EXFO-FTB100 Mini OTDR and EXFO FTB200. Optical power loss measurement test of optical fiber link. Using Optical Lost Tester (Anritsu) and power meter with light source (Anritsu). Conduct fiber optic cable testing, underground and check parameter testing end to end attenuation. Patch panel termination according to their designated rack assigns. Closing fiber optic joints by using different types of fiber optic closures. Testing of fiber optic splice loss using OTDR to check the loss in every splice. Site survey, revise plan, redlines and physical inspection. ODF prepare for fiber optic cable splice and termination. Splicing and jointing of fiber optic cables up to 144 cores. From ODF up to customer premises and deal with the customer regarding the installation of ONT/ONU. Monitor and supervised sub-contructor if needed. Reporting to area supervisor for the completion of works. Driving of assigned service vehicles in the performance of assigned tasks. Implements system checks at all stages. Develops customer relations / report for a good business climate. Reporting of completion of works using WFM (Work Force Management).Implements safety working environment as required by company standards (ensuring supplies and use of appropriate tools and Personal Protective Equipment PPE to do the job as required). Responsible for making sure that the machines and test equipment are handled and stored properly.
