About Reece Smith
I'm an aspiring financial planner, currently serving as a Client Service Associate for Mariner Wealth Advisors. I want to be a financial planner because I love working directly with people to help them overcome their challenges and live more fulfilling lives. I learned that I love to help people through the community service I did as a boy scout. Being a Tutor showed me that I excelled in helping people in one-on-one instances, explaining complex topics and coaching them through challenging problems. As someone who has been passionate about finance since I started my own lawn mowing business at 12, I see financial planning as a wonderful intersection of my skills. As a CSA I work with Wealth Advisors to assist and support them in servicing their clients. I attend meetings with clients, often presenting calculations from our financial planning tools (such as EMoney and Holistiplan). At times I work directly with clients to answer basic financial questions or resolve technical issues with client portals. I construct client plans in tools such as EMoney, Holistiplan, Nitrogen, Vanilla, and more, building planning scenarios at the request of the advisor. I help advisors design, review, and change client portfolios, regularly building reports that allow the advisor to communicate our investment recommendations to clients. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Allegheny College, with a BA in Economics, Mathematics Minor, and Law and Policy Concentration. As a student, I took numerous finance related courses while still obtaining a well rounded education. I served as a Fellow for the Bruce R. Thompson Center for Business and Economics, where I helped organize and coordinate programming for the business and economics department with other fellows. Programs included numerous lunchtime lectures, the Executive-in-Residence two day event, and the Board of Visitors workshop, networking, and roundtable events. As well, I was the CFO for, and helped launch, Allegheny's Student Managed Investment Fund, securing a $1 million donation from an Alum. Overall, I hope to be able to utilize my skills and experience to build quality relationships with people to help them reach financial security.
