About Reed Foster

I run two businesses: one focused on managing individual investment accounts, and another providing business valuations for private companies, typically for tax planning or compliance purposes. I also continue to fly internationally for a cargo airline. My investment approach combines classic techniques, like DCF and relative analysis, with quantitative models grounded in a quality-at-a-reasonable-price philosophy. Earlier in my career, I served 11 years as a Navy fighter pilot. I was fortunate to graduate from TOPGUN and later serve as a tactics instructor. However, I’ve always had an interest in finance and wanted to work on Wall Street. My goal has been to understand how businesses are valued and how the market reacts to perceived changes in value. That curiosity led me through a range of academic pursuits, beginning with an MBA, followed by the CFA program, a master’s in accounting, and ultimately the CPA designation. Each step has deepened my interest in how the financial world works.
