About Reet Starwind

Blessings My name is Reet Taylor, though for all intents and purposes, I prefer the name Reet Starwind. Creative Director of the Watu Moja non-profit organization since 2015 and graduate of Rutgers University - Camden in 2018, I am an author, poet, graphic artist, & event host / coordinator. In every aspect of my creative pursuits, I aim to embody innovation & articulation. Flipping concepts on their heads to attain new perspective and expressing them with the utmost authenticity has my heart. Academically, my background is in communications - specializing in digital media, sociology, and the ever-growing overlap between the two. Communicative ability and adaptive thinking have been imperative in my role as Creative Director. Founded with a group of close friends, Watu Moja is a homegrown international initiative to unite and uplift persons of African descent. Our endeavors have taken us to Kenya and Guatemala and my duties within it all entail planning our social media presence, curating iconography, & designing merchandise. Alongside the rest of the team, Watu Moja hosts seasonal art showcases, presenting a stage to highlight the various talents of the southern New Jersey region. From assembling performers and vendors, to setting up in venues, we craft events with an atmosphere of inclusion and immersion. My artistic resume includes being a featured performer in University of Penn's Whitman at 200 celebration and featured artist in Camden Fireworks's 'We Love Camden' gallery. In addition, I've archived 7 years in retail management between Pacific Sunwear, Urban Outfitters, and Vans. Working in one of the nation's biggest malls was a task well worth taking, refining my work ethic & leadership skills in exceeding goals & the development of my peers.
