About Reginald Thomas

I currently serve as the team photographer with the San Antonio Spurs after spending two seasons as a staff photographer with the Boston Red Sox under the direction of Billie Weiss. I graduated from Norfolk State University with a bachelors degree in Sociology in 2016. Through my studies I found my passion in photography and writing. I started to cultivate my visual storytelling through documenting sports and humanizing athletes with photos highlighting personalities on and off the field or court. In college I photographed my university's men's and women's basketball games as a way to stay connected to the sport I love. Through volunteering as a photographer with the basketball program, I was afforded the opportunity to serve as a photographer for the communications department of sports information for most of my undergraduate career, photographing every sport on campus. My academic endeavors have afforded me the opportunity to build relationships with professors and students from around the world across various academic disciplines and I cherish the interpersonal relationships I built throughout my academic career. Before interning with the Boston Red Sox in 2018, I worked as a staff photographer and reporter at the Baltimore City paper for two years after completing an internship in the summer of 2015. In 2018 I founded and published the first issue of The City That Hoops, a magazine that aims to highlight the cultural significance of basketball in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. I pride myself on my willingness and aptness to adapt to any situation as well as my ability to communicate well with others.
